Transparency

What determines the price

For Ukraine, three factors matter most — in order of impact.

Factor 1

The route

To Ukraine, the usual and most economical way is overland in our own hearse via Poland. Air freight to Ukraine is currently not available.

Factor 2

Coffin or urn

A transport coffin with a zinc liner is heavy and needs cargo space. An urn is light and considerably cheaper.

Factor 3

The destination

Kyiv, Lviv and the west of the country are easy to reach; a destination further inland means a longer leg on site.

Documents

What is required

A repatriation to Ukraine usually requires the following documents. We obtain and check them for you.

We deal with the authorities for you. You do not have to coordinate with the registry office, health authority or consulate yourself.
  • Death certificate
  • Medical certificate of death (Totenschein)
  • Corpse passport (Leichenpass)
  • Transport permit
  • Consular permit of the destination country
  • where required: embalming and coffin sealing

Frequently asked questions

What families often ask us

Why do you give a range and not a fixed price?
Because the price depends on things we only learn after a short conversation: the exact destination in Ukraine, the route and the schedule, the place where the deceased currently is, and the consulate’s requirements. The range is an honest order of magnitude — the fixed price follows, free of charge and within two hours.
Is repatriation to Ukraine currently possible?
Yes. Repatriations to Ukraine take place regularly, usually overland via Poland. We work with experienced partners on site and adapt the route and schedule to the current situation in the destination region. In our conversation we will tell you openly what applies to your destination.
What does an urn repatriation to Ukraine cost?
Usually cheaper than a coffin repatriation — around €3,500 to €4,500. An urn is light and needs no zinc coffin. Whether cremation is an option depends on the wishes of the deceased, the family’s religion and the local possibilities.
How long does a repatriation to Ukraine take?
That depends on the official permits and the border clearance. Once all documents are in place, the deceased usually arrives at the destination overland within a few days. We keep you transparently informed about the schedule.
Can I call before having decided anything?
Of course. Most families call before anything has been decided. We advise free of charge, in English, German, Ukrainian and Russian, around the clock — including Sundays and public holidays.
